Tribute to Professor Gboyega Adio
It is still difficult to come to terms with the news of your passing. It came as a shock because you were one of those people whose presence always felt reassuring. Even though we know that life has its seasons, saying goodbye is never easy.
I have known Daddy Adio from my childhood. Some of my fondest memories became even more special when I stayed at your home in Ekiti. Those moments allowed me to see beyond the titles you had to the kind of man you truly were.
I still remember the simple moments we shared, sitting together to watch television and the way you would always ask if I had eaten or if there was anything I wanted. Looking back now, I realise those were not just ordinary questions. They reflected the kind of heart you had. You genuinely cared about people. You made others feel seen, welcomed, and valued.
As I grew older, one thing that never changed was your interest in my life. Every time we met or spoke, you would always ask how I was doing, what I was working on, and how life was progressing. You celebrated growth, encouraged excellence, and always wanted the best for those around you. Knowing that someone like you was always interested in my journey meant more than words can express.
You lived a life marked by humility, kindness, joy, and genuine love for people. Your walk with God was evident, not just in what you said, but in how you lived. You served God faithfully, and you poured yourself into the lives of others without seeking recognition. You were truly a channel through which God blessed many people.
Although your departure leaves a void, I am grateful for the privilege of knowing you and learning from your life. Your legacy is not only in the work you accomplished but also in the values you instilled in your children and in everyone who had the opportunity to know you.
I pray that the Lord will comfort the entire family during this difficult time. May the Holy Spirit strengthen your hearts, grant you peace beyond understanding, and continually remind you of the remarkable life he lived.
Thank you for your kindness, your encouragement, your fatherly care, and the impact you made on my life.
Rest well, sir. Your legacy lives on.

Hmmm. Daddy Adio is a man of God to the core. He loved God and has a heart of service to humanity. I clearly remember his soft aura whenever He talks, His words are always full of grace, love, compassion and hope to everyone who comes in contact with him either in church or other places. He exemplified kindness, service, love, patience and concern to everyone.
It pleased the Lord to bring you to sleep at this time though painful but we are consoled. God's grace and comfort upon everyone he left behind. Till the resurrection morning, Daddy Adio

Prof Adio was a loving and caring man. I've known daddy all my life, first as a minister in church then as my friend, Dr Praise's dad then eventually as Lautech's chaplain. His office was open to all, he was that accessible. Daddy Adio, thank you for living well.
Your presence will be greatly missed. Thank you for those years of impact!

Today, i do not simply mourn the passing of a remarkable man—we celebrate a life that was rich in purpose, wisdom, and love. Professor Gboyega Adio was more than an accomplished academic; he was a devoted father, a mentor, a friend, and a beacon of hope to everyone privileged to know him.
His life was defined by excellence, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to shaping lives. Through his work, he inspired countless students to pursue knowledge with courage and humility. Through his words, he offered wisdom. Through his actions, he demonstrated compassion. His legacy is not only found in the titles he earned or the achievements he accomplished, but in the hearts he touched and the lives he transformed.
As a father, he embodied strength, sacrifice, and unconditional love. He nurtured, guided, and encouraged his children with patience and faith, teaching them by example the values of honesty, resilience, and kindness. His family was his greatest pride, and the love he poured into them will continue to bear fruit for generations to come.
Though his voice has fallen silent, the lessons he taught, the memories he created, and the values he lived by will continue to speak loudly. His absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his legacy will forever remain a source of comfort and inspiration.
