FAFemi Aluko
Pastor to Samuel
Dear Deaconess OLUFUNKE Omonike Akinde,
Though I did not have the privilege of knowing you personally, I have come to know the kind of person you were through your son Samuel. Truly, “by their fruits you shall know them.” The values, character, and grace evident in him speak volumes about the life you lived and the seeds you planted.
May the Lord comfort your family, grant them strength in this difficult time, and let your beautiful legacy continue to live on through all whose lives you touched.
Rest well in the bosom of the Lord.

To the family of Late Deaconess Olufunke Omonike,
It is with a heavy heart that I write this tribute in honor of Mama, a truly wonderful woman whose kindness, warmth, and love touched my life deeply. Though I may not have spent many years around her, the little time I stayed with the family remains unforgettable to me. She welcomed me with open arms, treated me like her own son, and provided me shelter, food, care, and comfort without hesitation. For that, I will forever remain grateful.
Mama was full of life, love, and wisdom. She was not only an exceptional cook whose meals brought joy and comfort, but also a devoted child of God who reflected the love of Jesus in the way she lived and cared for others. Her presence carried peace, strength, and genuine kindness. She played a remarkable role in guiding, advising, and supporting her children, raising them with values that will continue to speak for her even in her absence.
Her generosity and motherly spirit left a lasting impact on everyone privileged to know her. She was the kind of woman whose home radiated warmth and whose words carried encouragement and wisdom. Truly, her life was a blessing.
Though she is gone from this world, the memories of her goodness, laughter, care, and faith will remain alive in our hearts. Heaven has gained a precious soul.
May the Lord grant the entire family strength, comfort, and peace during this difficult time. Mama lived well, loved well, and will never be forgotten.
Rest peacefully in the bosom of the Lord, Mama Olufunke Omonike.

It is with a deep sense of loss and a heart full of gratitude that I pay tribute to Iya Tolu, a remarkably warm, accommodating, and homely mother who made her house a sanctuary for us during our undergraduate days in Minna. Her genuine friendliness and unmatched hospitality turned ordinary student visits into cherished memories of a home away from home. Iya Tolu’s legacy of love, kindness, and open doors will forever remain etched in my heart, and I pray that her beautiful soul finds eternal peace.

Dear Mummy Tolu, hearing the news of your sudden departure through a social media post came as a rude, heartbreaking shock. I am still struggling to process the reality that you are truly gone. I remember entering your home through a bossom friend, completely unaware that I was about to gain a second mother. You accepted me without hesitation, nurtured me, and treated me as your own flesh and blood. Your warmth, kindness, and motherly embrace made your home a sanctuary for me.
You have left us far too early, but the beautiful footprint you left on my life can never be erased. Goodnight, sweet mother. Rest in peace, dear Mummy Tolu. You will be deeply missed.

The memory of the just is indeed blessed.
Mrs. Akinde, you were an emblem of the Holyspirit's grace. Looking at your children, I had a hope that I will raise mine right and in the way of the Lord, losing none of them. You were that example for me because I know your children were birthed out of your discipleship. I usually used you as a pointer to covet that grace.
Thank you so much, Ma'am for showing me that it is possible.
You were also such a great teacher of the word. I was always excited when you were to take the Sunday School classes on Sunday. Thank you for labouring in the word and for the personal corrections with kind words filled with wisdom too. I am most grateful.
I am most certain that you're resting with the one you lived your life to serve faithfully.
Continue to rest in peace, Ma'am.
Till we meet again at the feet of Jesus and rejoice forever more.

They say a teacher’s influence is eternal, but a Sunday School teacher’s influence is heavenly. Mrs Akinde Olufunke spent her life sowing seeds of grace, patience, and love into soil that wasn't her own. Today, we stand as the garden she tended. Though she is no longer with us in person, we are the living evidence of her devotion.
Well done, good and faithful servant.

It is with great heaviness of hearts we are writing this tribute. The world is a stage, every person has their entry and exit. It is for sure that Mr Death awaits everybody; it is no respecter of any person. But in the case of our beloved sister, Deaconess Funkẹ Akinde's death, it was least expected. We are full of sorrows, but we have the belief that you are sleeping because one day we shall meet again at the feet of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus friends don’t die but sleep (John 11:11). You will be greatly missed among the Sunday School Dept. CAC Goodwomen Association, Choirs, church of God, Families, friends, colleagues, neighbours, etc. For your generosity, calmness, boldness, devotion, etc. However, death can kill good people, but never kill their good deeds on earth. How are the mighty fallen in the midst of battle, and the weapons of war perished (2 Sam 1:27).
Good night and until we meet again at Christ's feet.

I know her to be a respectful, dedicated, devoted, peacemaker and committed Christian. She is the epitome of an excellent, good woman and a mother worthy of emulation. She was a faithful, intelligent, functional and intentional Sunday School teacher. In our Sunday school Previews, as an academically and spiritually trained teacher, she often diplomatically asked and made contributions and corrections to boost knowledge and wisdom on the lessons. While other teachers were away to the Annual Sunday School Rally in April this year, consciously or unconsciously knowing she would be called home, she diligently handled the two-week review with another teacher. She was a multifaceted woman who handled all the parts effectively & efficiently with no part in jeopardy. Her legacy of love and service cannot be erased or forgotten. The lives you impacted, the values you taught love you shared continue to live in everyone who knew you. Our hearts ache because we miss your presence, your wisdom and all vacuum created. The emptiness left behind is beyond words. Yet in sorrow, we hold onto the hope that you are resting in the presence of the Lord you served so faithfully.
Until we meet again in glory to part no more, you will forever be in our hearts.

Mummy Tolu was a woman with a large heart and a highly accommodating nature. I repeat, highly accommodating. Mummy Tolu… I still can’t believe I’m saying goodbye to you. You welcomed me into your home without question. In Minna, you fed me, cared for me, and celebrated my convocation with Daddy as if I were your own. You never forgot me, you always checked on me and kept things aside for me even when I was away.
I’ll carry with me the memory of the day you shared a burden with me, and we knelt together to pray over it. I’ll remember the times we fasted side by side as one family, the quiet mornings and evenings spent in devotion, and the way you always took notice of how sharp I looked after a haircut, sometimes even more than your own children. It was your way of showing love in the little things.
I never imagined this day would come. But I’ll never forget how you made it to my wedding, arriving after it was over to show me love. That’s the kind of woman you were: always putting others first, always showing up. Your passing has left me with a quiet but lasting lesson about kindness and sacrifice. The footprints you left on my life won’t fade with time. Rest well, Mummy Tolu. Sleep peacefully in the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ.
You’ll always have a special place in my heart.

The late Deaconess Akinde was one of the family friends we grew up with, dating back to 1993. Mummy Tolu, as we fondly called her. She had a lovely personality. She was the epitome of humility. In fact, I am at a loss for words to describe her humility. She actively participated in many Christian activities, and I can attest to the warm relationship we had and to how she cared for many, regardless. Deaconess Akinde, we will miss you so much. Even in our Alheri Cooperative meetings, you were of tremendous assistance to us as the Assistant General Secretary till death snatched you away.
However, we take solace from the holy scriptures. According to 1 Thess. 4:14 “For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him,” so also, we are confident that our beloved sister is not dead but asleep, and we have this assurance that we shall meet again at the feet of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. May the Lord console the family she has left behind, especially her husband and adorable children.
Adieu, Deaconess Akinde!!! GOODNIGHT.

**MAMA TOLU: A RARE JEWEL AND BRIDGE BUILDER**
Hmmm, Mama Tolu, it is painful and shocking to write this tribute about you so soon. When you came into the Akinde family through your marriage to our beloved uncle Adekanmi, many of us wondered whether the strong bond we shared with him would remain the same. But you proved us wrong with your humility, kindness, and large heart. You not only accept us; you embraced us completely and became a strong pillar of love and unity in the family.
You were a virtuous, hardworking, and accommodating woman. I will never forget your hospitality whenever I visited your home in Minna. You would willingly leave your room so my uncle and I could occupy it. My younger ones who studied in Minna also enjoyed your motherly care and generosity. You treated everyone with love and made no one feel like an outsider.
Your devotion to God was genuine. You were not just a Christian by name but by lifestyle, humble, prayerful, contented, disciplined, and peaceful. You honoured and supported your husband wholeheartedly and managed both immediate and extended family with uncommon wisdom. In Pa Joshua Akinde’s (our father) house at Modakeke, you earned so much respect that we saw you as a second mother whenever you were around us.
You built bridges of love that will remain forever in the entire Akinde family. Though your journey on earth was short, it was meaningful, impactful, and full of service to God, family and humanity. Mama Tolu, Heaven has truly gained a saint. Your memories, kindness, and legacy will remain evergreen in our hearts. Whenever you called me, your warm words, “my husband, my chief,” always reflected the deep respect, affection, and honour you had for me.
Rest on in perfect peace, our beloved wife, mother, and bridge-builder. Pa Joshua Akinde’s house and the entire Akinde Oluseyi Ajayi Dynasty in Modakeke Akoraye will miss you dearly.

Rest well, knowing that your love lives on in everything I do.
Rest well, MAMA TEE (MAMA DANIEL).

My loving Mama T, you were truly a “Living Sermon.” Thank you for not only embodying Christ but also for bringing my brothers and me up in the way of the Lord. The blessings of having you as my mother are an understatement. Thank you for being my 5 & 6 since my birth and for not allowing distance or time difference to be a barrier. Words are not enough to describe you, my beloved Mama T.
Your love, care, prayers, sacrifices, time and support were never unnoticed, and I will always cherish all the beautiful memories we have shared. Abiyamọ ò ní gbàgbé ọmọ rẹ̀ . Therefore, Mama T, continue to keep watch over me, my brothers and your beloved SM even as you rest in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ. Orun ree o, O digbere Mama T…
I LOVE YOU TILL ETERNITY,
Your One and Only Princess.

Mama Tee, it is still like a dream that you are gone. We never thought it would be so soon. You left suddenly. There are several things we agreed to do: who will call Israel “Jesus Baby”, who will give me gist, call me several times a week to check up on me, advise me and pray for me.
I will forever miss you, Mum.

My darling wife, SM, as we fondly call each other. I still find it very hard to accept you're no longer physically with us. If anything could bring you back, I wouldn't think twice. You were the strength, love and light that filled our home. You gave, sacrificed and encouraged without measure.
You poured yourself into our children - the priceless gifts you gave me. I miss you every passing second, our late gists, laughter and little arguments. Ooh, I'm not sure how to navigate this, but I trust God to hold me through it. You left a great vacuum that only God can fill. I'll hold on to the beautiful memories we've built and shared, and I will love you even in death.
I'm assured that you are resting in the bosom of our Lord, and we will meet to part no more.
Sun rẹ ó Iyawo mi.
I love you so much, SM.

"Hello, my darling Angel" were the first words you said when we were on call, and ended with "Love you dear". I still find it hard to come to terms with the reality of your passing. This hit really hard. Sadly, I didn't get to spend enough time with you as you would have loved. You were a beacon of light, love and peace. ... You prepared us for life, but we weren't prepared to go through this, at least not this early. But we're grateful for the love you exude, the prayers, the check-ups and the life of peace you lived, and we console ourselves with the reality that "Blessed is the memory of the righteous, and we do not grieve like we have no hope" and that you're in a better place keeping watch over us as you would do. It's a change of Location for now, and we will meet again on the resurrection morning.

I love you.

Iya Tolu as I would fondly call you and you will respond Baba rẹ... You lived a life of great Testimony.
From the first 30 seconds of our call, you can sense if something isn't right.... "Mayowa kí ló ṣe é? voice é ó sound Okay"
It still doesn't sit right that I won't hear your voice again to gist me all that happened, how you feel about them, and your prayers at the beginning of the month.
You were a pillar of peace and unity, always asking if we've heard from each other.
It's painful to accept that you're gone too soon but I'll forever cherish the memories, Godly teaching, counsel and words of encouragement.
We'll be all you want us to be and more.
Till we meet again,
I love you so much even in death.
