BIOGRAPHY OF OLASUNKANMI TITUS ABIOLA
9th December 1954 — 22nd May 2026
Early Life & Origins
Olasunkanmi Titus Abiola was born on the 9th of December, 1954, in Osun State, Nigeria, into the family of James Abiola and Mewolaka Abiola of Ijebu-Ijesha. He was the last born of four children, raised in a home where the values of hard work, faith, and respect were not merely taught; they were lived out daily.
From his earliest years, young Sunkanmi, as he was fondly known by those closest to him, displayed a quiet strength of character and an eagerness to learn that set him apart. His roots in Osun State and his deep connection to Ijebu-Ijesha shaped his identity profoundly, instilling in him a pride in his heritage and a love for his people that he carried with him throughout his life.
Education & Career
Committed to excellence from an early age, Olasunkanmi Titus Abiola pursued his education with focus and determination. He attended Ado Grammar School, before proceeding to the University of Calabar, where he earned a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree, developing a deep and thorough grounding in Electrical and Electronic Engineering that would become not just his profession, but his life's calling.
What followed was a career that spanned several decades and left an indelible mark on all who encountered his work. He rose to serve as the Managing Director of Multi-Power Engineering Limited, a position he held with the quiet authority of a man who had earned every step of his ascent. Under his steady hand and visionary leadership, the company grew and endured, standing for over 30 years as a respected name in the Nigerian engineering landscape, a longevity that speaks not just to business success, but to the trust and reputation he carefully built over a lifetime.
His areas of expertise—electrical and electronic design, installations, and maintenance—were not merely job functions to him. They were a craft he approached with rigour, creativity, and an uncompromising commitment to quality. Whether on a project site or in the boardroom, he brought the same standard: precision, professionalism, and integrity.
Those who worked under him will speak not only of his technical brilliance, but of the way he led with patience, with mentorship, and with the firm belief that excellence was never optional. He trained hands, sharpened minds, and built a team that reflected his own values.
Multi-Power Engineering Limited was not just a business he managed; it was a legacy he built, brick by brick, wire by wire, over more than three decades of dedicated service.
In his career, as in every other area of his life, Olasunkanmi Titus Abiola was a man who did not cut corners because he understood that what is built with integrity, stands.
Marriage & Family Life
Olasunkanmi Titus Abiola was a family man in the truest sense of the word. He is rejoined in eternal rest with his beloved wife, the late Olufunke Mojisola Abiola, who departed this world before him. Their union, though now separated by time and earthly loss, was one built on love, commitment, and a shared faith in God. Even after her passing, Papa carried her memory with tenderness, and those close to him knew that she remained a part of him until his very last breath.
Together, and through the different seasons of his life, Papa was the proud father of four children, each a testament to his investment in the next generation. He poured into his children not just provision, but presence. He led by example, teaching them that a man's word is his bond, that hard work is honourable, and that no achievement is complete without gratitude to God.
His home was one of open doors and warm hearts. Friends, relatives, and neighbours were always welcome, and many who passed through the Abiola household carried away memories of his generosity, his wisdom, and the unmistakable sense that in his presence, they were cared for.
Though he walked the final years of his life without his wife by his side, he did so with grace, leaning on his faith, surrounded by his children, and anchored by the certainty that their separation was only for a season.
Faith Journey & Church Involvement
If there was one thread that ran through every chapter of the life of Olasunkanmi Titus Abiola, it was his faith. He was not a man who wore religion lightly. From his youth, he gave himself wholeheartedly to God and that devotion only deepened with every passing year.
He was a cherished and committed member of St. Jude's Anglican Church, Mende, Lagos, where he worshipped, served, and fellowshipped for many years. He was equally rooted in his ancestral spiritual home, the Cathedral Church of St. Matthew, Ijebu-Ijesha, in the Diocese of Ijesha-North, a connection he maintained with great pride and loyalty throughout his life, a living link between the man he had become and the community that had shaped him.
His most distinguished mark of service to the Church came through his appointment as a Licensed Lay Reader in the Diocese of Lagos West, a role he embraced with deep reverence and diligence. As a Lay Reader, he proclaimed the Word of God with conviction, led worship with humility, and served his congregation with a servant's heart. He understood that this was not a title to be worn, but a calling to be honoured—and honour it he did, faithfully, until his strength permitted.
Beyond the walls of the Anglican Church, Papa's faith burned with an evangelistic fire that could not be confined to a pew. He was an active and executive member of the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International (FGBMFI), a platform through which he combined his identity as a businessman and his passion as a believer to reach souls for the Kingdom of God. In the FGBMFI, he found a community of like-minded men who understood that the marketplace and the mission field were not mutually exclusive, and he threw himself into that vision with characteristic dedication and zeal.
Within the Fellowship, he was known not merely as a member, but as a force, a man who showed up, stood up, and spoke up for Christ without apology. His commitment to soul-winning was unwavering and his passion for the Gospel was unstoppable. He was a committed and tireless soldier in the army of God, and he remained on active duty until his very last breath.
Those who sat under his ministry will remember not just a voice that read scripture, but a life that embodied it. Papa prayed without ceasing, gave without complaint, and loved without condition. His faith was not a part of his life—it was his life.
Passing & Legacy
On the morning of 22nd May, 2026, the Lord called His faithful servant home. And in that moment, we believe with all our hearts that what was separated on earth was beautifully restored in heaven—that Papa was reunited with his beloved wife, the late Olufunke Mojisola Abiola, in the presence of the God they both served so faithfully.
Though the news of his passing brought deep grief to all who loved him, it was tempered by the quiet, unshakeable comfort of a life fully lived and a faith firmly kept.
Olasunkanmi Titus Abiola leaves behind his four beloved children, an extended family across Lagos and Osun State, a congregation that mourns a pillar, and a community that has lost a quiet giant.
His seat may now be empty. His voice may no longer fill the sanctuary. But his prayers still linger in the air, his example still lights the path, and his legacy built not in stone but in character will endure in the lives of every soul he touched.
He fought the good fight. He finished the race. He kept the faith.
And now, together again, they rest in the Lord they both loved.
Deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Forever loved. Forever remembered.
