Their story
TRIBUTE TO A GREAT WOMAN OF FAITH. OUR FIRST BISHOP'S WIFE, MAMA VICTORIA OMOYENI OYELADE
"Blessed are those who died in the Lord Jesus Christ for they rest from their labour and their good works do follow them."(Rev.14:13)
We give thanks to God though our hearts are filled with sorrow, for a life well spent of our great mother. Today, we honour and celebrate the life and legacy of a remarkable woman who served as the first Bishop's wife of our Diocese. Her passing is a great loss to her family, the Church and our diocese.
As the first pioneer Bishop's wife, there is no doubt that she had made a lot of sacrifices to ensure the diocese especially women's and girls' ministry moved forward. She helped to lay a strong foundation through her resilience, prayer, wisdom, humility, and dedication. Mama was a pacesetter, a prayer warrior, a lover of children, a giver, a hospitable and a meek woman who was always smiling. Though she is gone, she has left an indelible legacy. She will forever be remembered in our diocese. Rest on our own beautiful Mama Oyelade. Till we meet to part no more. Adieu.
